First Prototype is Live!!

DevLog #1 – First Prototype is Live! 🎮🔥

Hey everyone!
I'm super excited to finally share the first playable prototype of Falling in Abyss with you!

This past month has been intense — probably the most productive phase of the project so far. In just a few weeks, we managed to take a lot of ideas from paper to screen and launch an early version. It’s still far from the full vision I have for the game, but it already gives a small taste of the world, the atmosphere, and the combat style I want to explore.

What’s in this version?

Right now, the prototype features a wave-based combat arena, with some dialogue moments in between. The idea was to build something simple but meaningful — something that already shows a bit of what the final game aims to deliver:

  • Fast-paced and impactful combat

  • A strange and immersive world

  • A narrative that, while still shallow, starts asking the right questions

There are also a few initial sprites and animations, which will definitely get more polish in the next updates. This version is all about testing the core potential.

Challenges along the way

Not everything went smoothly. I ran into quite a few technical issues, especially around wave logic and the dialogue system.
Some bugs kept popping up, and trying to keep everything functional with such a tight schedule was... tough. 😅

But honestly, the hardest part might’ve been dealing with the anxiety of releasing something unfinished. It's not easy to put out a version that you know isn't "perfect" — but it's also been freeing. The goal is to build this together, learn through testing, and keep improving.

What’s next?

There’s a long list of features I want to add/improve, but here are the key goals for the next update:

  • Sound effects and background music

  • New combat mechanics (dash, special attacks)

  • Unique enemies with their own patterns

  • Polished animations and better sprites

  • Gameplay tweaks and performance improvements

And finally...

Huge thanks to everyone who takes the time to play, comment, or support in any way. This is just the beginning of Falling in Abyss, and I truly hope you enjoy following the development as much as I’m enjoying working on it (even in the chaos 😅).

See you in the next DevLog — and if you can, drop some feedback! It really means a lot. 💬
